With the launch of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda in 2015, a series of challenges and opportunities have arisen with regards to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level, particularly with regards to reaching
the communities furthest behind.
The event will consist of an opening high-level overview, moderated discussions, audience participation, and thematic sessions on data management, clean energy, poverty alleviation, and sustainable environmental management.
This two-day special event during the UN High-Level Political Forum will convene multi-sector leaders to initiate the development of a network of self-propelling, self-sustaining network of Local2030 Hubs across target countries.

United Nations Member States and leaders from civil society, business, UN System, specialized agencies, academia and other stakeholders are convening in New York from 10 to 19 July 2017 for the annual High-level Political Forum (HLPF) to review progress made towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The Forum is the central UN platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, its theme this year is “Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world”.
Several HLPF participants will take part in short #SDGLive interviews broadcast live from the UNTV studio on 13 and 18 July from 11am – 12:15pm to discuss some of the key questions raised at the Forum.
- Year 2 of the 2030 Agenda.
- Breaking silos and creating effective national mechanisms for implementation.
- Private sector initiatives that promote the SDGs.
- How can we achieve gender equality?
