        10:00 AM - 01:00 PM        (TCC) General Assembly: High-level meeting to discuss the effective implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the positioning of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in this regard.
On 21 October 2016, UN Member States agreed the New Urban Agenda at the Habitat III Conference in Quito, Ecuador. This Agenda sets a new global standard for sustainable urban development and will help us rethink how we plan, manage and live in cities.
In order to maintain momentum around the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and to reflect on the positioning of UN-Habitat in that regard, the President of the UN General Assembly convenes a two-day high-level meeting of the General Assembly 5 to 6 of September 2017.
The meeting will discuss, inter alia, best practices, success stories in relation to implementation of the New Urban Agenda. It will also address the measures contained in the Report from the Secretary General’s Independent Panel to Assess, Enhance Effectiveness of UN-Habitat after Adoption of New Urban Agenda, which is expected to be published by end July 2017.

        10:00 AM - 01:00 PM        (CR.4) General Assembly: Informal interactive dialogue on the Responsibility to Protect.
The responsibility to protect and accountability for prevention.
The dialogue has several purposes:
- First, it will provide a forum for Member States to assess the existing gap between commitment to the responsibility to protect and implementation of the principle, as well as to discuss measures conducive to close it.
- Second, it will constitute an opportunity to exchange views and perspectives on venues and lines of accountability in the implementation of each of the three pillars.
- Third, the dialogue will suggest next steps to accelerate implementation and accountability for prevention.
- Fourth, the dialogue will help underscore the need for a renewed faith in collective action and an improved capacity to coordinate an effective atrocity prevention collective agenda.

The report is an attempt to understand the underlying factors of violent extremism in sub-Saharan Africa. The meeting will present findings about, and recommendations for tackling violent extremism based on the analysis of the unique database gathered through the Journey to Extremism research project.
Violent extremism in Africa is setting in motion a dramatic reversal of development gains and threatening to stunt prospects of development for decades to come. From 2011 to 2016, it caused 33,300 fatalities as well as widespread displacement, creating situations of pronounced and critical humanitarian need.
