Event objectives: Highlighting Article 12 as the core of the UNCRPD and a tool for achieving the paradigm shift in reality: legal capacity is crucial for the enjoyment of all other human rights; therefore, recognizing the autonomy and legal capacity of persons with disabilities will ensure equal access to services and the enjoyment of all human rights on an equal basis with others. Changing attitudes and raising public awareness by presenting the evidence based results of pilot projects: supported decision making as an alternative to guardianship.
