Data is a starting point to help countries measure progress and identify shortcomings, enabling governments to make evidence-based decision making to achieve national sustainable development objectives. A significant factor in the success of the SDGs will be empowering countries with the capacity to collect data, monitor targets and measure progress towards fulfilling the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
At the technical briefing, FAO Chief Statistician Mr. Pietro Gennari will present an update on the latest developments in the global SDG indicators process and FAO initiatives in support of Member States’ efforts to monitor progress on implementing the SDG indicators in the areas of food and agriculture.

Da’esh not only represents a terrorist threat, its members have also committed war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
All UN member states have a responsibility to protect populations from genocide and other mass atrocity crimes, and to hold perpetrators accountable under international law. Ensuring accountability for these crimes is among the most effective means of preventing their recurrence. This meeting is an opportunity for member states to discuss steps towards delivering justice for Da’esh’s victims.
