Example projects will be presented – such as AXS Map, AXSSchools, and Bmaps – apps which can gather information on accessible public places and accessible schools and thus contribute to the implementation of SDG targets 4.a (schools sensitive for persons with disabilities) and SDG target 11.7 (accessible public spaces). A research paper exploring opportunities of digital information in improving the situation and empowering persons with disabilities will be presented and discussed. The side event will also present a road map on this topic.

01:15 PM - 02:30 PM        (CR.7) Promoting Technological Entrepreneurship in the Field of Disabilities (COSP-9 Side Event).
Technological ecosystems have been in existence in the business world for some years, especially in the high-tech sector. Such a system includes the full range of stakeholders who are involved and who influence the development of innovative products and their introduction into the market. This is done by building a comprehensive network which provides entrepreneurs with the supports they need to turn a concept into a marketable product. Such an ecosystem has yet to be developed focusing on developing products for people with disabilities.    Israel is at the forefront of developing a disabilities-focused ecosystem which pools all the knowledge, support and cooperation required for an entrepreneur to develop a concept, providing tools and supports, market research, as well as assistance in finding funding and a link to specialists and customers. Such an ecosystem will provide exposure  and leverage existing initiatives; help newcomers learn from successes and failures of others; assist in exporting effective solutions to the world; and provide entrepreneurs with access to knowledge, guidance, resources and community.
Speakers: Beit Issie Shapiro: A Disability-Focused Ecosystem; TOM (Tikkun Olam Makers); Sarah Herrlinger, Apple.
