The winner of the 1 million US dollar Grant ‘Powering the Future We Want’ will be revealed.
The “Powering the Future We Want” grant offers one million US dollars to fund capacity development activities in energy for sustainable development. It seeks to encourage dissemination and scaling up of successful experiences and best practices in this area. The Grant is awarded to an individual, institution or partnership based on past and current achievements. The work of the top ten applicants to the UN-DESA energy grant will be briefly illustrated, demonstrating how energy plays a key role in promoting progress towards the social, environmental and economic dimensions of sustainable development.

The panelists will present experiences about how individuals, communities and nations have used self-representation as a tool for social change and as a way of achieving political and cultural representation within societies.
