sub-regional organizations continue to play pivotal roles in their respective regions in the areas of peace and security, human rights and development.
Strengthening cooperation between the UN and regional and sub-regional organizations remains even more important today given the magnitude and complexity of challenges facing the international community.

This event will precede the 7 May 2015 High-Level Thematic Debate in support of the process towards UNGASS 2016, which will, inter alia, consider "implementing a multi-dimensional and multi-stakeholder approach in addressing the world drug problem".
