In March 1965, many religious and civic leaders, from different faiths and regions, and led by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., marched from Selma to Montgomery, peacefully protesting to secure equal voting rights for African-Americans. This discussion will commemorate the 50th anniversary of their historic march through the experiences of those who participated in this transformative event.
This event is co-sponsored by the Permanent Mission of the United States of America to the UN, the Delegation of the European Union to the UN, and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Council at the UN.
