09:00 AM        (CR.6) Universal Health Coverage and Resilience: Lessons from the Ebola Epidemic.
The world’s largest Ebola outbreak in history has shown how fragile health systems collapse when exposed to extreme shocks. In contrast, resilient health systems—which fight poverty and strengthen human rights in times of calm—protect communities and economies from suffering lasting damage in the wake of disease epidemics.
On the first-ever Universal Health Coverage Day—a day that has mobilized 400+ organizations from 80+ countries to demand health for all—join global leaders for a discussion on the urgent need to prioritize universal health coverage in the post-2015 development framework.
Seminar Co-hosted by the Permanent Missions of France, Japan and Germany to the United Nations in collaboration with Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health's Better Health Systems Initiative and The Rockefeller Foundation.
