Panelists will share their stories of awakening to the various manifestations of gender inequality including conscious and unconscious gender bias and disproportional or under-representation, and the need to address it in their spheres of work and influence. The panelists will examine how the AHA moment of realization transforms one’s life and perspectives in big and small ways, and how that helps to drive and alter the paradigm for the greater good including gender equality. The panelists include Assistant Secretary-General for Safety and Security of United Nations, Ms. Mbaranga Gasarabwe; Interim Chief of Staff, UN Women, Ms. Patricia Nozipho Bardill; International Director, Promundo and Co-Chair, MenEngage Alliance, Mr. Gary Barker, and Former Managing Director and President of Boards at Mars Inc., Ms. Theano Lianidou. The panel will be moderated by Ms. Aparna Mehrotra, Focal Point for Women in the UN System and Senior Adviser on Coordination, UN Women.
